Rangitoto Island

Take a ferry from Devonport over to Rangitoto Island for a day of exploring. Rangitoto is Auckland’s largest dormant volcano, and is also home to the world’s largest pohutukawa forest. Once you arrive on the iconic island, you can hike to the summit, or try out the shorter walking trails. You can even book a guided tour if you like.

The summit track is relatively easy, and you’ll be rewarded with beautiful 360 degree views at the top. Be sure to take your time and explore the lava caves and volcanic landscape on the way up! We recommend allowing around one hour each way.
